I first went to Julie for tennis elbow that had been bothering me for some
time. Whilst talking to her about my aches and pains, I mentioned that I
had had trouble with my neck and shoulder for many years after a riding
accident and years of toil with horses. I usually visited a chiropractor
for this which improved it for a while but it always came back. The
treatment then began - Julie concentrated on my elbows, and put in one
needle for my neck and shoulder. The next day my elbows were much improved
and after a few more treatments were back to normal. But perhaps the most
remarkable to me was that from that one needle all the pain and muscle
cramps in my neck and shoulder had gone and it hasn't come back in almost
two years - thank you Julie!

I decided to try acupuncture to see whether it would help me following my experience
of recurrent miscarriage. I had read that acupuncture had been successful for women
in my position and I also knew a number of people who felt that they had benefited
from receiving it. I chose Julie through receiving a list of accredited practitioners
from the British Acupuncture Council. Julie was very friendly and made me feel very
relaxed and allayed my apprehension about having needles put into me! I felt able to
discuss my situation and Julie explained how acupuncture may help. Initially I saw
Julie weekly for the first 6 weeks and then we agreed that I would see her once every 4-5 weeks.
I found the sessions very relaxing, so much so, I would normally go home for a lie down!
After 3 months of receiving acupuncture, I fell pregnant.
Julie adapted the acupuncture which she carried out on me and focused on helping
me to maintain the pregnancy. I now have a healthy 11 week old son! I strongly believe that acupuncture played a significant part in enabling me to have
my baby and I would certainly recommend both Julie and acupuncture to anyone with a
health or emotional need, and particularly anyone who is in the situation which I was in.

I must say I was a little sceptical before I decided to go for Acupuncture, after having tried just about every other alternative for my back pain I plucked up courage and went for my first treatment. The treatment was painless and I felt immediate effects, when walking back to the car a lot of the pain had disappeared.
A few days later the pain did start to creep back, but I must admit I was impressed and look forward to my next treatment.

Julie Dakin's acupuncture treatments have been very beneficial for me. It is a very
pleasant and relaxing hour. I appreciate Julie's caring attitude and attention to my comfort.
My decision to try this form of therapy for my back ache and stress has been the right one
for me and has made a great deal of difference to my life.

Having suffered a whiplash injury approximately 10years ago I have tried various treatments to relieve the neck and back pain and associated headaches, including Osteopaths, Chiropractors and even a course of Reiki.
Althought I had heard of Acupuncture I was unaware of the benefiits of regular treatment.
It is now almost two years since I have been receiving treatment from Julie and my neck and back symptoms have improved greatly. I have also noticed a marked improvement in my general health and well-being with fewer headaches or the colds and sore throats that I regularly used to suffer from."

I received a course of acupuncture for Bells Palsy and found the treatment very beneficial. Within just two weeks I had regained considerable facial movement.

I had a course of treatment for tennis elbow and was amazed at how quickly it cured my pain. I have had no symptoms at all since.

I have arthritis in my spine for which I take anti-inflammatory tablets. I don't like taking tablets but they were keeping the pain at a bearable level until I had a really sharp pain in my lower back and neck - I could have screamed with the pain. I decided to try acupuncture and found Julie on the British Acupuncture site. I had a consultation with her then she gave me my first treatment. I had some relief within hours and after another three treatments I only had a dull ache if I laid in bed for too long! Getting up and walking around gets rid of that - top ups keep this under control. Acupuncture has done me the world of good and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't like taking tablets.

Before I met Julie Dakin I was a complete sceptic when it came to alternative medicine. Julie’s marketing material appeared to offer the solution for my situation so I resolved to give it a go. Following a very relaxing and comprehensive consultation, during which Julie allayed all of my doubts, I undertook a course of six treatments with her re-assurance that the acupuncture would give me results. It was the watershed I had been waiting for, for 5 years. The treatment completely transformed my well being. Now I’m no longer a sceptic and enjoy a monthly top-up session to keep me feeling fantastic. Thanks Julie.

I have suffered from migraines since a teenager but over a period of time these migraines had changed into a cycle which would last for weeks on end. I spoke to my GP who gave me some medication but because we were trying for a baby I was unable to take much to help. I then read an article about the positive effect acupuncture could have on reducing migraines. I knew Julie was an acupuncturist so spoke to her regarding this article. After our brief conversation I booked a course of treatment. Julie was very professional and took a full medical history and we discussed in length the type of migraines I was getting and side effects these migraines produced. Due to the fact that we were trying for a baby Julie explained that certain points would not be used. This gave me a lot of confidence in her as a practitioner as this was one of my concerns. She also warned me that this treatment might cause a flair up of side effects at the beginning.
I completed the course and since that time the cycle of migraines has been broken and I have only had 2 migraines in a year when before I was having 4 migraines a month.
I had no side effects from the treatment and found it a relaxing and professional service from Julie.

I read that acupuncture can help with some of the symptoms caused by Multiple Sclerosis with which I was recently diagnosed. After my first few sessions with Julie I experienced ‘huge pain relief’ and over a short period of time I have been relieved of problems with my bladder and bowel control. My walking is always a lot better after my treatment and I drive away feeling ‘normal’.
Other benefits of acupuncture and my sessions with Julie are that my moods have improved and are now less erratic and my coping skills have returned much quicker than I had expected. I believe this is influenced by acupuncture and the fact that I can talk to Julie about any aches or pains whether related to MS or past injury/trauma.
Julie listens - she is caring, professional and we also share laughter which is a huge benefit to me. The relaxation I experience once Julie has put the needles in place is wonderful and I often smile to myself when lying in Julie’s warm, comfortable treatment room in Wickham. Julie also shares her knowledge of acupuncture and good health when asked. My sessions started as weekly and are now every two or three weeks as I am accumulating better health.
With acupuncture, a healthy diet, medication, yoga and Physiotherapy I am managing the symptoms I have and I would encourage anyone suffering with MS to visit Julie for a consultation and treatment.
